A motorcycle accident can change your life in a heartbeat–and the lives of loved ones.
Take the example of a motorcyclist killed November 11 by a driver on I-40 in Nashville, Tennessee. The motorcycle accident happened after midnight, according to WSMV-TV. Jose Miguel Castillo-Calles, 30, was driving a Volkswagen Passat when he crashed into the motorcycle heading east near the I-40/I-24 split. The motorcycle was pinned against the guardrail, dragged across traffic lanes and crashed into the guardrail on the opposite side. Castillo-Calles exited his vehicle and fled the scene. He was later taken into custody.
Castillo-Calles was not injured in the accident. He failed field sobriety tests, according to police.
The motorcycle driver, John R. Johnson of Mt.Juliet, 48, was pronounced dead at VanderbiltUniversityMedicalCenter.
Castillo-Calles has been charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication and driving without a license.
