The last thing a parent wants is for that new toy to injure their child due to improper manufacturing. For this reason, it’s very important for parents to be proactive and keep up with the latest product recalls.

How, you may ask? We’ve gathered a few resources to help you keep your children as safe as possible:

The CPSC

The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is the government agency responsible for issuing commercial recalls across the United States. Their website lists the latest recalls in order of their release and is searchable based on a particular company or a toy/product’s country of manufacture. You can also subscribe to an email list to get the latest recall information in your inbox or follow the CPSC on Twitter (@USCPSC).

Manufacturer Sites

Most child product company websites have a page dedicated to information regarding recalls on their products. Toy companies like Mattel and Hasbro have such consumer information listed and easily accessible for parents.

Other Informational Sites

  • Safe Kids Worldwide offers an email subscription service to receive information on new recalls; however, this site’s recall coverage is exclusive to children’s toys, food, furniture, and other products.
  • Parents Magazine has an extensive online list of child-related recalls with the option of limiting a search by selecting a specific category: books, cribs, clothing, etc. They also offer advice columns about how to react if one of your child’s toys or products is being recalled.

All sites recommend that parents monitor and report all products they feel are unsafe for their children and act on all recalls even if their product does not appear defective.

If you feel that your family has been wronged due to a defectively manufactured toy or product, contact Gilreath and Associates today for more information on how you can take legal action.
