Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Family Survive Tennessee Plane Crash

Given the potential dangers of plane crashes and the fact that aviation accidents commonly result in death, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family are lucky to be alive.

The former NASCAR driver survived a plane crash in Bristol, Tennessee at Elizabethton Municipal Airport on August 15, 2019—and made it out with no serious injuries.

Earnhardt Jr. was the only one rushed to the hospital. He reportedly sustained minor cuts and abrasions but suffered no broken bones, concussions or burns.

A fire broke out after the plane touched down halfway along the runway. Everyone exited the plane and made it to safety before the flames could spread through the entire aircraft.

Earnhardt Jr. was on his way to the Bristol Motor Speedway to be a part of the announcing crew for the races being held that Saturday; however, he elected not to attend in light of the crash.

The aircraft had flown to and from the same airport on more than one occasion, so the reason for the crash is still unclear. Officials say investigators are looking into the possible causes.
