Country Singer Wayne Mills Dies in Nashville Shooting

In the early hours of Saturday morning, country singer Wayne Mills, 44, was shot by Pit and Barrel bar owner Chris Ferrell in Nashville, according to The Tennessean. Police are still investigating since Ferrell told them he shot Mills in self-defense after an argument about Mills smoking in the bar.

Ferrell has not been arrested.

Mills died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Saturday.

Mills toured with the Wayne Mills Band, which mostly performed “outlaw/southern rock flavored” music on the college circuit.  Early in their careers, country music stars Jamey Johnson and Blake Shelton had opened for the band.

Pending the investigation results, Mills estate may have grounds for personal injury litigation.
