I began my legal career representing insurance companies, municipalities, and companies either being sued or suing other companies. I rarely represented an individual. Since my sympathies are with David instead of Goliath, after moving to Knoxville in 1988 I chose a firm which represents individuals who have been injured or damaged in some way. At Gilreath and Associates I have had the opportunity to work on a number of unique cases.
The most rewarding part of my work is receiving Christmas cards from families whose children I helped. A child I represented at age 10 is now approaching 30 and we are still in touch. The most interesting part of my work is meeting experts. While working on cases involving Kawasaki disease, I had an opportunity to meet many of the doctors who established how the disease should be diagnosed and treated. In their company I feel like a fan meeting Bruce Springsteen or Eric Clapton.
